Default Setting up a business in Australia

Hi,

I just wanted to get some feedback from anyone who has done this, or is in the process of doing this.
My wife and I have decided to sell up and will be moving to Australia over the next 2 years, with a view to setting up a bookshop/music store.
I am about to embark on some business management courses, and hopefully come up with a decent business plan for when I get there.

Thanks

I wouldn't bother with a music store to be honest. With Napster striking up a new deal with the record companies etc I reckon that within 10yrs the record shop as we know it (I'm 32 btw!) will be all but defunct! Only co's like Virgin and HMV will be big enough to diversify and absorb this new trend in music buying, the little guy will go the way of ye olde corner shop I'm afraid!(and I don't mean taken over by people of Asian origin! no offence intended)

Hi,

Im doing the same, although we already run a business in the uk.

Best bet would be to ensure any qualification or course you do is internationally recognised, such as C&G

Take a look at TAFE http://www.tafe.qld.gov.au/

You're probably right....I just like the idea of shops like that clinging on in there...
I still like the idea of a physical product when I buy music.

Oh well....maybe a bookshop then..

Until Amazon open up in Australia.

Damn...
