Default sending goods to uk

Our daughter has recently returned to the Uk, and needs her hockey bag and sticks sent over. Although the bag weighs less than 3kgs I have been quoted anything from $295 from an airline to $560 by fed ex. Does anyone know of a better and much cheaper way of getting the bag over to her, thanks

Try the New Zealand equivilant of Australia Post. If it is anything like here they would be able to send it. Place it in a carton or wrap it in brown paper, anything to hide the fact it is sporting equipment. Depending on how quick she wants it, you have the choice of air-mail or surface, far, far cheaper than the other options you have mentioned(am speaking from experience).

Yeah, I agree - I sent some 'quite' large things across from OZ to the UK with Australia Post. It still cost a lot, but nothing like you're quoting

Good idea to try the Post Office - airlines would be charging by the size, whereas the PO will charge by weight. And if shes not in a hurry, there always surface mail - about 2 months, and cheaper than Post Office airmail.

Just by chance I picked up an international price list at Australia Post today!

To send a parcel to the Uk of 2kg is $50.50
for each extra 500g it is $8 on top.
so for 3kg it would be $66.50.

This is an air price so it should get there within a week. I have sent a few parcels home and they got there quite quickly.
They also have lots of boxes there to choose from.

Much cheaper than fed ex

Economy which they say takes around a week longer is:
$38.50 for 2kg
$6 for each extra 500g

or by sea:

$26.50 for 2kg
$3 for each extra 500g
