Why do you need to ? Surely its easier and safer to do a money transfer

To be honest I would NOT send a bank draft through the post if at all possible. If you have to and its a large amount, send it by courier so you can track it and get it insured for the full value [check the insurance will cover a bank draft]. If it dissapears enroute, it would take months to get your money back and thats if its not cashed in the meantime.

I'm rather surprised an agent won't accept a money transfer as its easy enough to set-one up, will take about the same amount of time and is much, much more secure - for both parties. Personally, I'd refuse to send it and insist on electronic transfer.

Well i got my bank transfer today by post now i am ready to post it,thats what the guy requires,he is well known on this site would not want to mention any names and maybe he will be reading this, but thats the only payment he takes and also does not want it sent by courier as sometimes never in office to be there for courier.
I was going to sent it registered mail signed for by royal mail surely others have sent bank drafts that way.
But i wanted to know as not used this kind of payment before what if it went missing?am i covered,i was told by the bank only the person can cash it in,also what happens say he did not get it and it was never chashed in,would i just request another,or does royal mail insure such payment or draft.
Again surely others have used this method before,as said im sure people on here have used this guy and have used this method for payment,if so how did they send it as registered mail is the only secure kind of way i can do.
Also as i have the bank draft in my hand i take it thats it i dont sign it or anything just send it as it is??
Its made out to the guy and amount thats all thats required right?
I do need to incuded my details but that be on a bit of paper so he know who from.
Advise please would be good,i was going to post today, but will hold off until saturday to make sure i am sending right way etc

Well personally I think if your agent is reading this - I THINK HE'S AN IDIOT. If that had been me it would have been a deal breaker and I would have used a sensible agent with business acumen.

Why would you not accept a direct credit into your bank ? There is no reason whatsoever.

If that draft gets lost, your screwed with no recourse other than a ridiculously long and long winded procedure including getting a stat dec from the person who should have received it informed they have not received it and will never cash it should it ever arrive. Thats if the bank is so kind.

If the person, were dodgy - and I'm not suggesting they are - and just cashes it then you've no recourse whatsoever.

Oh - and I dont want a courier delivering it ???

Suss, suss and suss. And if not suss - they just downright stupid business procedure on the agents part.

Interestingly you are sending a UK Sterling cheque to Australia to be cashed by an agent IN Australia presumably. Stranger and stranger.

We had to do the same thing, it has to be sent via post to have the origional documents with origional signatures. They will not accept it any other way.

We used Royal Mail signed for service...............but they lost it!! It never gets signed for, so paying for that service is pointless. We had a nightmare waiting for it to be returned, cancelling it etc.

So we then used DHL. Fantastic service well worth the £25 and you can track it's every move via internet!!

I was like a deranged nutter when the DHL guy came to pick it up from us. I wanted to know it's every move before it had even left!

It was the most stressful part of our application and i would never like to repeat it. Hope you get this message in time.

Good luck

Melis
