Default Self-packing Containers

Hi all. Just curious regarding self-packing a 20ft container....

Has anyone done it recently? if so, what happens exactly? does the shipping company just drop off the container and give you a certain amount of time to load everything up before collecting it again? and if so, how long do you get to load? Do you have to just put lists of what's in each box on each box - and provide a copy to the shipping agent?

Anyone have any advice on the pro's / con's of doing this yourself?

We're considering doing this as recently we've heard that shippers sometimes pack very loosely - and dont necessarily fill drawers etc so we're concerned that what we might get quoted on may end up not fitting on the container...

If you self-pack - does the shipping company still handle the Insurance/ and oversea's handling?

Also, anyone got tips on how to wrap/pack large items of furniture??
