Hi all
Does anyone know if the Secondary schools in Melbourne offer spanish during a students last 2 years. I presume it will be the VCE taught then and wondered if anyone had experience of this kind. Any help appreciated as son has been doing this for last 2 years and would like to take it further if it is an option.

Don't know about Victoria and the VCE but in NSW almost every language in existence can be studied and exams taken at HSC level (the NSW equivalent of the VCE).
If the actual language is not taught at schools, students can study it elsewhere (Saturday language schools are common here) but still take the exam as if they'd done it at school.
I assume you've seen this site:
http://schlprv.vcaa.vic.edu.au/schoolsstudiessearch/
It refers to the Victorian School of Languages which is probably a similar deal where kids can study the language away from school, if their school doesn't offer it.
Check it out here:

#3 points you to a link that shows the VCE results for each school.
My daughter was doing Spanish GCSE and was very disappointed to see that few schools offered Spanish VCE. Out of disgust she dropped languages - now doing English, 2*Maths, Physics and Accounting. Shame really as I hoped she would continue with a language.
FYI, MHS is the government select-entry school for boys. Note the languages offered http://resources.mhs.vic.edu.au/mhs/...m_subjects.asp.
