Second hand car.....Sunshine Coast.

My Daughter brought a second hand car privately.
The very next day the catalytic converter went and will cost over $300 to replace and repair.
So what are her rights as this mechanical failure happened less than 48 hours of her buying the car.
Also if she does have to pay for repairs can anyone recommend a good garage in Maroochydore area as she is new there.

No warranty on privately purchased cars, unless it's a relatively new car, in which case the balance of the new car warranty would apply.

Unless a warranty was implied or given, all second hand purchases ( privately ) are on as-is basis.

I doubt buying private there is any comeback.
More helpful is there is a brilliant mechanic called lance and his team
Buderim Auto, 15 gloucester road, buderim. Not that far from maroochydore.
