Hi Carole,

We are off to Perth on 17.8.05.

Currently in East Kilbride, just up the road!

Have you been before? I visited Rockingham last year, lovely!

Might see you if this meet is in time for us, we move out the house over 8th to 10th with International Movers and fly to Dubai then for a few days R and R before we hit Perth.

Good luck with the move!

Hi,

thanks for your reply. Hopefully we will make the 18th!

We are also flying with emirates. My niece flew with them recently and said they were great.

To begin with we are staying with relatives in Nedlands until we rent something.

Not too sure where yet, as we are going out cold - no jobs etc, so once we find work that will determine our final decision on an area.

I liked Hillary's area up the coast, but both Rockingham and Fremantle are attractive prospects!

If work is farther afield, then Mandhurah and Bunbury may have to be considered. I'd really like to stay in the suburbs of Perth.

Have you got work to go to?

My hubby is a design engineer and I am at present a "stressed" civil servant!
I hope to use this new life for a career change. I don't care what I do as long as I am happy and away from red tape and bureaucracy.

I love socialising with friends, dancing, walking, cycling and playing games and making things with my girls. I hope to have more quality time with them now. I've been going to a night class to up my IT skills and this and work along with all the Oz planning has given me less time for them recently.

Well must fly, time for work, GROAN

Speak to you soon if not on the 18th.

Hi Margie - my hubbie is a design Engineer too! (well a senior design engineer) Where does your hubbie work?

Marc works for Alexander Dennis in Falkirk!

Wonder what the work will be like for design engineers in Australia - we are off to Brisbane,

Hi Lynn,

My hubby is the engineering manager at Star refridgeration.

There seem to be jobs advertised, but the distance at present seems to be a draw back, lots of poitive replies about getting in touch on arrival. Adelaide seems to be a good place for the manufacturing industry, but we love Perth!

Will give Perth a go and if things not right for work then look at Adelaide .

Are you going to make the 18th of June? The guys would probably talk companies and network opportunities!!

Maybe see you then. If not good luck for Brisbane!

Unfortunately can't make it to the night out.

Perhaps on return from my 'rekkie' to Brisbane we could organise another (in Aug) for all the people who couldn't make it.

Have a great night everyone

Hi Margaret

Are you going to the night out on 18th ? Unfortunately we can't make it but let me know how it all goes (if you're going)

My brother lives in Melbourne and I was there for a while, we are planning on going to Brisbane.

Perhaps another night will be arranged in the summer...........

No I can't make it that night. How did you like Melbourne when you were there? I know the weather is a bit dodgy but I don't mind a bit of colder weather, just not all the time.

Hi Margaret

I was in Melbourne for about 8 weeks - the only thing I didn't like was the unpredictable weather and from what I hear it was awful last year.

We decided that the weather was a big factor for us in our decission to go to Oz which is why we decided to give Brisbane a try. (Perth a bit isolated we felt) Although from comments people have made I may find Brisbane too hot !!!! (but I'm sure I'll cope)

In Melbourne the Mornington areas, Mt Eliza, Mt Martha are very nice, so is Croydon Hills.

If you want any further info please don't hesitate to ask (you can send private messages on this site)
