Schooling & job prospects for Hubby!!
At the moment we are waiting to be allocated a case officer for a 175 visa. Had medicals passed etc,I have already got a job at mater childrens hospital, Brisbane. However recently been told by some friends of ours that they are heading back to the UK because of education in Oz, although child in question is at a crucial age. That & other things are setting off major doubts in whether we are doing the right thing. Looked on previous threads regarding education & there does appear to be some concerns.
We have 3 children so private schooling although it is cheap will be too expensive for us. Is it true that if a child goes to a state high school it will not have as much chance of obtaining a place in university?
We hope to be heading to the Bayside area, hopefully Wellington point, Cleveland. Obviously depends on cost of houses as to where we settle but most importantly the best state schools! Can anybody reccommend any primary & high schools with good reputations. It is difficult when there are no league tables to go off.
Also, although I will be nursing full time my Husband needs to find a job. He has done gardening, flagging & fencing for 18 years (inbetween being a Postie!) but has no qualifications in this. Does anybody know if there are many jobs in this line of work & if so what type of wage would it pay?
Any advice would be appreciated, Thankyou

Not sure on wages, but there are mowing franchises etc around, and the auspost is often advertising for postie/sorters in cleveland. Helpful if you have a motorcycle licence as most delivery is by bike.
Secondary Schools in Redlands fall into three groups
Private . ie
http://www.sheldoncollege.com.au/
http://www.ormistoncollege.com.au/
Catholic/Church Private ( cheaper )
http://www.redlands.qld.edu.au/
http://faithlutheran.qld.edu.au/
http://bne.catholic.edu.au/ carmel
State schools.
Here a list of most schools as provided by the council
http://www.redland.qld.gov.au/CRC/Ca.../High+Schools/
They do vary, and the private/church have intake years, and its hard to get in for other years.
Redlands house prices are going up, and do vary greatly even though you can drive end to end in 20 mins
