Assuming all goes to plan we will be emigrating to Sydney circa July of this year 04 and we would like to make e mail contact with people in a similar position to share experience, hi's and low's with. We have two teenagers 16 and 14 and are concerned about the usual things like schooling, making pals, is it the right thing, is it the chance of a lifetime or not? not having a job when I arrive and financing time off with house equity etc etc etc etc
those of you in the same position will know what we mean.
Please do send a mail and we will respond to all serious messages.

How far down the immigration line are you.
Also what do your kids feel about migrating?

Hi G&T.
I also have 2 children, son 11, daughter 7.
At this moment i'm not that concerned about the work side of things(will worry about that when we arrive) although the wife should be OK as she's a nurse.
What does concern me is that my kids don't want to go.
My son is heavily into football, both playing and going to games and also any match on the telly.. My daughter has her friends, cubs and also plays football.
Although i can understand their doubts about the move i try to explain to them that there is a bigger world out there and they will meet new friends and they will be able to play sports ,and all the other stuff they normally do ,and more.
Is it working..........not a jot.
Doesn't help when the MIL starts to use emotional blackmail on them. Aah well, must try a different approach.

It's costing me a fortune in bribery as it is.
MUST buy a house with a pool, for daughter,( big enough to put a dolphin in)
I want a ute, but lad wants me to buy a Subaru Imprezza,( they'll be cheaper in Oz as they're only made next door(Japan)
His words not mine.
Oh, and a dishwasher for the wife. (not a bad swop)

we have medicals on thursday and then we have about 8 weeks after that for it to be confirmed. Then all being well we will move in July.

What about you what position are you in, do you have children?

What part of Australia are you going to?

Kids are a little unsure, but we feel its the right thing for them in the long run.
