Nahhh, no club, although there are plenty around, I think if it was bigger (its only 31 feet), then I'd feel more confident & if it were a yacht instead of a motor boat would help as well (not having to stop every 2 hrs for fuel!).

Right now I'd just be happy to get it out of drydock & back in the water since its been out being repaired for about the last 8 weeks  .

Have a freind who works on the QE2 playing piano, he has just been playing en route from Sydney to UK, though he's flying back (lives in Oz), so yes it does.

Freighter could be dangerous anywhere near Indonesia where they have hundreds of armed pirate attacks ever year on ships like these.

Definitely.

Plenty of people have drowned in Moreton Bay which is an indication how dangerous it can be out there, even though its not technically open sea.

(& yes, we like our nice southern bay waters, boating in any weather & not too far to swim to shore :D )

Takes 41 nights, starts at about £4100 and takes you through the following locations: SOUTHAMPTON, Madeira, Barbados, Margarita Island, Curacao, Panama Canal, Acapulco, San Francisco, Honolulu, Apia, Pago Pago, Suva, Auckland, Bay of Islands, SYDNEY. Hmmm....

That sounds fab Hutch can you give us a link? :)

We thought about it. This is what I could find for the next few months.

P&O Oriana departs Southampton on 8th Jan 06 for Brisbane Sydney Melbourne & Perth via America with prices from £4700 pp.

Classic International Cruises Funchal departs Monte Carlo on 14th December to Freemantle via the middle & far east with prices from £1100

and Cunard's QE2 departs Southampton on 3rd Jan 06 for Sydney via America with prices from £5000.

I've looked at those in the paper as well, and dreamed, seems pretty good pricing, when you consider it takes into account all meals etc, and the duty free bar. One can get real bargins if they book last minute.

One would have to just about double the cost, to take into account spending money though, and hopefully have change the other end. I think we and maybe some others would have to buy a new wardrobe to fit in with the general cliental on board.

Yes It's definitely on my "must do it one day" lists, Surely someone on here has done the trip ?

Locally, an 10 day trip for 4 around NZ and the local islands, is around about 1800Aud PP for a 4 berth cabin, with a kids club on board. Plus some of the cruises depart from Melbourne. I'm seriously looking at that for a holiday.

40 nights fully inclusive in a floating luxury hotel, for AUD20,000 grand, plus spending, not bad at all. Hey does it stop at Cairo, that would really tip it in my book ??

The Classic Cruise (which is also the cheapest at £1500 pp for 33 nights in a 2 bed berth) stops in Greece, Egypt (Port Said for Cairo & the Pyramids & Safaga for the Red Sea), India, Maldives (I think), Thailand & Indonesia (Bali & Somewhere else).

We were very tempted the problem is that it arrives in Perth the week before Christmas which will be a real drag for finding rental accomodation and mean a few extra weeks in a serviced apartment.

Yea, it's a bit annoying isn't it - all these round the world cruises seem to start in January, and nothing ships out in the middle of the year. Is this because during the summer months the boats are otherwise occupied doing smaller cruises in the med and carribean? Oh well - seeing as we want to leave mid-2006 I guess it's back to the plane - maybe we'll fly business instead of economy :)
