Can only speak for my suburb, and for our bills

Rates = $160
Water = $70 a quarter
Gas = Bottled gas at $80 a quarter
Electric = We pay $100 a month with bill smoothing, but we have ducted air con. Last years electric use was $1150.

Hope this helps

These were mine last year, all paid quarterly:

Electricity $1,938.70 = about $162 pm
Rates and Water $2,254.73 = about $188 pm

We do not use Gas, except for the BBQ

If you rent, you do not pay rates (council tax).

My electric included pool filter, heated pool etc., for 5 bed house.

these are for a 2bed apartment:

elec $35 per month
gas $35 per month
water $10 per month
council rates $215 per month
landline $20 per month
ADSL2+ $50 per month
contents insurance $20 per month
total $385 per month.

On top of this you need to pay body corporate fees if living in an apartment. These fees can vary quite a bit depending on size, location and amenities of apartment complex.

However, if you are renting then the landlord pays the rates and (99% of the time) the water too, so our bills would look like this:
elec $35 per month
gas $35 per month
water $0 per month
council rates $0 per month
landline $20 per month
ADSL2+ $50 per month
contents insurance $20 per month
total $160 per month.

hope this helps.

I rent so no rates or water.

Electricty is about $150/month for 4 bed house, with 2 reverse cycle AC and a pool.

I have no reticualted gas so only use gas for BBQ.

Phone line rental is about $30/month with total phone costs about $60/month.

Foxtel (pay tv) I pay about $75, depends on your package

My monthly bus fares to and from CBD is about $100/month (zone 3)

Broadband (12GB limit, cable, 15MBPS) is $60/month
