Re: Rose wine!!!!
[Whine Snob mode on]
blossom hill - shocking really :) There is a reason its not stocked in Oz :) White Zinfandel - Drain the dregs from a real Zinfandel part way thru fermentation and add sugar and flog it to mericans. [Whine Snob mode off] If you want a lighter style rose try something from Yarra Valley in Vic. Also check out Swan Valley in WA. Have a good look at Grenache. You may see it called Cabernet Blanc in Oz. I think Paradox in the Barossa Valley does a "White" Zin |

Heya!
Does anyone know where I can buy Blossom Hill White Zinfandel Rose? Or Earnest and Julio Gallo White Zinfandel Rose? Preferably in the Melbourne area! Thank you! This is also my favourite tipple here in the UK - in Qld I used to get the boxes of rose Coolabah (I think thats what it was called) was a little dryer but still really good and great value |
Re: Rose wine!!!!
Loads of diff rose available from Barossa and Mc Laren Vale round us in Adelaide.
The mostly grenache roses tend to be slightly more fruity with the strawberry after tones, so Turkey Flats Rose or the Woodstock rose are great. A drier more red wine rose is the Sangiovese from Chapell Hill Vineyards or the Coriole Rose. There's also a couple of blends and I think Tapestry do a cab sauvignon/shiraz blend rose, bit yucky for me that one as I like it sweet tho the Penna Lane from the Clare valley rambling rose of the same blend is nicer! Lots to try, you should pop down for some free winetasting so you can buy after you try!!! It's almost a weekly event for us down here. Claire, enjoying her woodstock botrytis wine with her dessert!;) |
