we are moving out to perth in september and are wondering what areas would be the best to live. we are a young family with two small children so ideally it needs to be near to schools and amenities. we hear that rockingham, safety bay and waikiki are nice areas, can anyone give us any tips?

I live in Rockingham, and also previously lived in Waikiki. My mum lives in Safety Bay. Rockingham and Safety Bay are nice areas, Waikiki has good and bad sections, try and avoid Hillman and Cooloongup as some areas are a bit troublesome there. The train line to Perth is being built at the moment and should be completed soon so access will be good. The beach at Rockingham and Palm Beach is great, safe for kids, and there is some nice little pavement cafes. Safety Bay has quite a high proportion of older people and older 1960s/70s houses, and in Rockingham there is a new estate called The Anchorage which is a great place too. If you need any help/any questions please PM me, my kids attend school here too if you need any help with that :-)

We are in secret harbour (very nice) about 10 mins from Rockingham. Safety Bay, Port Kennedy, Warnbro, all nice as well, don't rule them out, just depends on your budget.
Good luck.

We are in Shoalwater and have short term holiday accommodation if you need a base to stay and then look around, check out our web page at www.cedarcottagewa.com we love it here and will shortly be moving down to the beach at Safety Bay.

is it quite easy to get a short term rent?
we would like to do the same as we are still undecided where we are going to buy a house as we don't know the areas well.
kind regards
jade and rich
