Roadside assistance / car breakdown cover
Does anyone have any recommendations for roadside assistance providers (eg RAC / AA type companies)? It needs to be a national company (or NSW / QLD at least).
thanks

RACQ have always been very good. We insured with them as well when we arrived in Aus and we were able to transfer our rating over with us.

Example, you are from WA and are a member of RACWA but the car breaks down in VIC, you'll be covered by roadside assistance from RACV making it a nationwide service.

I bought Toyota Roadside Assist when I bought my car. But since I bought a Toyota and not a Holden, I don't think I'll be needing it.

Thanks everyone, I'll investigate NRMA a bit further. RACQ won't let me join as I'm not yet a QLD resident unfortunately, and I need the breakdown cover for when I drive up to Brisbane from Sydney.
My only concern with NRMA is: a) Their ads annoy me; b) They're very expensive (membership fee and service fee).
Anyone had any experience with ANZ Assist (which costs just $55 a year with no membership fees)?

Think ANZ Auto Assist has ceased assisting (try saying that after a few pints).

Seems MTA Road Assistance went into liquidation last year, they provided the service for ANZ and a host of other organisations. Bit of a worry that, wouldn't want to be with someone who's going to go bust just as my car breaks down (although apparently the NRMA came to rescue when people did break down). So that's my concern with 24/7 Roadservices...
But then again, the NRMA does charge a fortune and its basic service is very basic...
Oh decisions decisions!

Funnily enough you used to be able to put your car on the train from Sydney to Murwillumbah. We did that trip once when the kids were small and it was fantastic - they even washed the car for you at the other end.
Unfortunately, it won't help in your situation as they stopped doing cars on that line years ago.
I'd go with NRMA. You could always join just for the road trip to QLD and then cancel once you get there?

When I lived in South Australia I was a member of RAA...when I moved to Perth I went to the RAC office and they simply transferred it
