Hi There,

I applied for a de-facto spouse visa back in November.

We posted the application special delivery on 28th November, I had an e-mail on 30th November saying that everything was approved! I don't know if this is especially fast, but seemed too quick for me, and we didn't believe it was true until my passport came back with a visa in it.

When my passport came back, they returned photos as well as other bits and pieces that weren't 'essential' for the application, but possibly helped.

As far as evidence is concerned, we submitted various photos of us together, bank statements from our joint account, credit card bills proving the split of who pays for what within the house (these weren't 'proper' statements, but printed from the relevant websites), stat decs from friends in Australia, the joint rental agreement from the flat and boarding passes from when we've been away together.

HTH

I stupidly booked flights to France with out thinking for May (hoping to apply in April!) and I know that I don't have to send of my passport with my application but was wondering how quick the turn around is if your granted the visa from sending in the passport, getting it stamped and then sent back.
And can you wait awhile before sending in the passport or do you have to do it straight away - or even better can you take it to Australia House personally and wait for it to be stamped?
Sorry loads of questions!

We flew out to Germany for two weeks the evening that we posted our application.

I ended up posting my passport about 3 weeks after getting the approval by e-mail. It came back 4 days later.

Cheers
