No, I don't think you need pictures. Unless your in Interior Design or some other art industry, in which case a portfolio of work may be a good idea. :)

Hi Wendy,

What i meant is a photo of myself, i'll be working in finance... I was refering to the following site:

Say cheese
Putting a photograph of yourself on your CV is one of the bells and whistles that Little thinks is worthwhile. With a photo CV, a candidate becomes a person, not just words on paper. It also adds a type of graphic icon, he says.

"I've sat on government recruitment panels and the number of times people refer to 'That one, or those two with the photo' is amazing. People remember a photo."

Send half with and half without. If you only get replies from the ones with no picture then you'll know not to do it again :D

Re: Resume Template??

I written a cv since 2000 and was wondering how far I should go back in relation to employment? Pre-Uk work was here and there and it wasn't until I moved to the Uk when I actually settled into work. What should I put on the CV? Additionally, I am planning to hand my cv out at the Aus expo next month and wondered - do I need to put on references? I am not planning to move until next year. Sorry last point and I know it has already been covered but are there any disadvantages to adding a picture to the cv?

Personally I think including a picture could look a bit tacky.

In terms of references, there are advantages and disadvantages to including them, personally I have prepareda references sheet and use my judgement for each individual situation. Most often I don't include it up-front on the basis that it's good to give them something to come back to you for. This was something that I was advised by a career consultant.

Unless they are really good references, in which case it could be the difference between getting an interview or not. ;)

Very true!

I've found that a lot of the applications systems that many companies use today either don't offer an opportunity to upload them, or if they do, my references, which have been scanned in so that the signature is on them, are always too big to attatch :frown:
