Default Renting and working from home

Looking to rent in NSW (and I know it's probably something you can do in some places and not others)

but is there a law/problem with renting a home and then having it registered also as your place of work?

Hubby's Boss's Company is based in Switz and looking to start up a satelitte business in OZ and initially it would just need a lock-up/storage (maybe using a garage and the usual phone/inet/fax office desk).

Boss has an office expenditure and I was just thinking of suggesting he ups our housing allowance and we rent something with an extra bedroom (for the office) and a double garage (for storage) and we start it from there.

Any thoughts/comments?

You will probably need to get your landlords permission, after that it's a case of getting a licence from the Government. This website has lots of useful info

Bear in mind that neither may be necessary. It really depends on what you want to do.

For example, just using one room as an office does not in itself need permission from anyone.

Hmm, that's what I was hoping, JAJ, it's not the type of business that people would come to 'the office' it's really a point of contact - this is the business's phone number, call it if DH is unavailable/out of the country etc.,

DH is on his way over on Monday with new Boss, talking to Lawyers/Migration Offices, etc., hopefully glean more info then
