Renting a house in Melbourne
Hi folks,
We're gonna rent a house in Melbourne next month (Staying on WHV),just wondering what docs we do need to get the agreement signed?

The need for prior references is not universal. I unilaterally offered the agent a bank statement showing that I had funds to pay the rent. Nothing else, other than ID. That sufficed.

Sometimes an opinion can be made from more information. For example we came over with no employment but had more than sufficient funds, showed the costs we had incurred to get here (its not a fly by night migration for any of us is it). Copies of our post graduate qualifications etc.
If you sit back and think "if I was the landlord, who would I be comfortable in renting to?".
The agents only pass the applications over so they cant answer. Better to go overboard with info than too little and miss the property.
