Hi Karen

We had Allied Pickfords around today, the chap that we had was very good also. We`ve got to have a 20ft container 'sole use'... he said that he will let us know how much but said it would be no more than £3800.

Will keep you posted on how the others go in the week

Karen

We are in Welling and we had Pickfords round and were impressed with the guy, we also had Crown round and both said we needed a 20ft container. Crown were slightly more expensive than Pickfords but included the AQIS charge. When we spoke to Crown and said they were more expensive they dropped their price.

Many thanks...

I am thinking of contacting Pickfords and Bishops Move... any thaoughts!!

:)

Julie,
Had Crown come to see us yesterday, but wont no about price until Friday when they have worked out the total space required. Fisrt Impression of crown are excellent. telephone me within 10 mins when i first sent Email to them to arrange a date, and then the chap telephoned me Sunday night to confirm everything was alright for his appointment, and if i had any questions before hand. On the day, he was very good. The most interesting thing Crown informed us of was they will Gurantee delivery Door to Door in a Maximum of 8 weeks. Usually 7 weeks. Also you can track your shipment with their on line system. All in All very impressive. Will be more impressed when i see the quote on Friday. Everything shold fit inside a 20Ft container. Have PSS coming tomorrow morning.

Had our quote from Crown today. £4K from Sedgefield, to Grafton NSW for a 20ft container. Other companies quoted from £3300 - £3500 a few months ago, but I understand these have gone up by at least 10%. Crown seem the moat 'professional'.

Hi Thought I would just join in on the thread - i've got Crown coming next week for a quote. We live in a 2 bedroom house and are taking most of our contents - will let you know when I get a quote.

Do Allied Pickfords have a good reputation? - there is a depot locally so was going to give them a phone too for comparison - have also e-mailed PSS.

That's about the figure we have had for our "revised" quote from AP for our 20 footer from here to Sydney, so that at least is consistent!!

Remember to add in the insurance cost - gulp !!

AP - generally....... yes. As with all other shippers, there will be horror stories which appear to be few and far between, except perhaps for Anglo Pacific (which I believe Pollyanna has re-christened ***** ********!!) which does not seem to have a good reputation on here.

I just got the quote back... £2510.00. I liked the chap that came and this quote isnt the cheapest(pss were cheapest but the bloke was smarmy and also quite late and didnt appolgise or anything) So I think Im gona go with bishops move...They are very local to me also..Point to note is I did tell him what my cheapest quote was at the time and he made a face as if to say we'll never match that...but he has...cut it by about £150.00...So it may be worth telling them what they are up against...

Crown

Just passing on a comment from a friend of mine who emigrated to Sydney 3 years ago......"removals - don't use Crown, heard nothing good about them".

I am not going to ask her the details, I'll just trust here judgement, and I am sure there are some happy customers of Crown that have recommended them on this forum, but as people coming over want feedback, I am just passing it on.

She used Pickfords and was happy with them, so presumably her feedback comes from others in the Sydney expat crowd.

Hi JJ,

We're heading out about the same time. We've gone off the idea of a container, going for serveral (Mrs says 8, I say 4) teachests with probably a couple of book cases. Will save us as stack as I had budgeted for a container, will buy some furniture with the savings!

See you on the plane :D !
