Personally here in Canterbury I don't think NZ climate is anything like Uk. Admittedly it can drop v.cold at night and with no central heating you will probably notice it more. We never had central heating in the Uk so it feels fine to us. The winter days though are lovely, a sharp frost means a beautiful sunny day with clear blue skies. Its very dry here, when it does rain its most likely to happen at night. The summer was hot and dry not at all muggy. Its the blue skies that i love very rarely overcast here in Canterbury.

From November 1 2002 to March 1 2003 we had 2 days when it did not rain or snow here on the east coast of Scotland. FYI This is the dry side .... we did have some OK days but they always got some rain...

P.S. It does rain in Victoria.. I drove through a mud shower in June - the rain mixed with the dust blown up by the storm. Very Very scary.

I'm in the process of using up all the stuff in the freezer, so cold evenings and pots of stew and casseroles are certainly on the menu. Red wine sauce - well, got to use up the bottles, haven't I!

Can't have a whisky stew - I put all the whisky in my coffee yesterday to get myself through my Very Bad Day - so I'm reduced to all the other bits of bottles that are left!

I'm with karawarra88 on this one.

It's been freezing and wet in Perth for the last 4 months. We've had 2 "doonas" (duvets) on the bed.

We had a mini tornado which tore off a load of roof tiles off and our friend arrived back from Sydney the other day, the flight took 5 3/4 hours because of the headwind.

Wait till January when Perth is having a little 43 ish and Qld has your armpits sticking to your sides. Or those lovely claggy nights when a sheet makes you hot and your idea of heaven is lying on the ensuite floor to get cool.

Hard to believe now but you will dream about that cold cosy weather. Or in my mental case will pay $20,000 a year to get 4 weeks of that weather.:D

No the pommie 'heatwave' (snicker snicker) did not prepare you for this

Can we take it from this that you neglected to install A/C in your current pole house. Seems to me it would be cheaper installing A/C for about $5,000 than spending $20,000 on escapeing from this weather.
Mind you some people just don't understand how technology can make like more enjoyable, but takes all sorts.:) :) :)

I know how hot it gets here, I worked in the goldfields for 6 months and it went to over 50 degrees for a while. I was out in that from dawn till dusk.

I can't wait for it to get hot here, if it gets too much I'll just jump in my sparking pool, at night the old aircon will keep us comfortable.

Yeah we have aircondit, however I cant sleep with it on, dries out my sinus or something, husband reckons I make strange nasal sounds all night when the AC is on. (No smutty comment please this could be a serious medical condition)

Besides, 6 months locked in with the Airconditoner is boring, I could end up involved in some silly Net group or something. No I shall stick to my dangerously expensive escapes to my fave London shops, would you like me to bring you back some real live pommie baked beans this year :D or some new M&S Y fronts??
