Hi There,

My partner, my 14yo son and I were supposed to be moving to NZ this month for work but he recently got offered a job up north so now we are moving to Mackay instead!

We are very excited, but also apprehensive about the move as neither of us have been there before. We will be staying in temporary accommodation for a couple of weeks until we decide where we would like to live. Hoping to meet up with any Mackay locals when we get settled for a coffee or a beer (preferably a beer)

I'll be working as a nurse/midwife and my partner is a geologist (and extremely keen fisherman!) so we are looking forward to doing lots of exploring on our days off!

Any recommendations re. good areas to start house hunting would be welcome. We will rent initially. Friends who are familiar with Mackay have recommended Northern suburb's.
