Re: Redcliffe Area anyone?
we are in kippa-ring 1 of redcliffes suburbs.it,s nice though a little quite for us.scarbourghs posh with water front canel homes with the million dollar price tag to go with it.house prices vary emensly.the rental where in has just gone on the market for $369,000 and it,s around 30years old with 650m2 of land 3bed 2 bath and parking for 6 cars.it,s a bit of a dog and needs a lot to get it upto scratch.when you compare it with north lakes you can get a house and land package for about the same money without the land but brand new so it depends on what you want.i used to commute to cbd from my work place in brendale[about 25 minutes away from redcliffe] on the old gympie road at 6.30-7 am it would take about an hour.compare redcliffe with say caboulture-morayfield and give me redcliffe any day

Hi
Can i ask, do you know what the situation is out there regarding building work?
We are emigrating in couple of months and wanted to go to North Lakes area, but have been given information that theres no building work at all.
Just thought i would ask as you are in the place we would like to come. Any info would be great.
Thanks

We are at North Lakes renting at the mo which is 10 mins from Redcliffe. We have been quite a few times since we arrived in August. We do like the north side of Brisbane as it is near to beaches and mountains etc. Redcliffe seems very nice, as is Scarborough but only seen from the outside so far. the commute and how bad it is depends what time you travel. But saying that its not just the North side which has horrendous commutes. Many areas have them as they seem to be upgrading every road in Brisbane. Give it another 10 years and everyone will wonder what the fuss about travel was.

Hi
Myself and OH are looking to settle Brisbane area. Thinking about Redcliffe how far from Brisbane? Gold and Sunshine Coasts? Are their any problems renting and avg cost of property 4 bed? We are a family with 2 children aged 6 and 3 are their any nice schools. Basically is this a nice area? How big on average is Redcliffe is it near the beach? thanks Nicky

Redcliffe area has the main large areas of proper sandy beach nearest to Brisbane CBD when you discount the further away but slightly more refined sand of Bribie Island, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast beaches. It also has a massive free swimming lagoon/pool with lifeguards on side of the sea just along from the beach. Their are proper beaches at both Scarborough and Redcliffe but Deception Bay is mud flats not sand.
Houses rent for around $1,400 a month up over still depending on age and location although a lot of rents on the rise. Redcliffe and Caboolture both good hospitals to work at and if you are working at either you will have an easy commute.
As for city commute they are putting in new bridge at Redcliffe to help speed this up and you always have option of catching train at Sandgate, Strathpine or Petrie if you don't want to drive all the way to city.
Sandgate, Brighton and Shorncliffe just across the bridge from Redcliffe so worth a look as well and also Clontarf, Margate and Woody Point on the peninsula.

Redcliffe is an up and coming area as it's prices have been low for years as not on train line and slightly off the main highway run, so now property developers snapping up old properties to do up or bulldoze and rebuild on.

Was fantastic 1 year ago before Bush shagged world economy but it's in a bit of a slow down at the moment but think that will be only temporary as was way behind on the number of houses they needed and in the few years we have been here they are buying up land and chucking up estates everywhere.

Woody point is well worth checking out, once the new bridge into brisbane is finished its bascially one kilometre to the bridge. They are just doing up the foreshore there, new pier etc. It has its own has its own village shops, chippie etc and a fantastic pub, we lived there for a while, ( now working in Noosa ) but loved it there.

Redcliffe is great, but until the capacity of the Houghton Highway is increased, I would seriously try to avoid having to make a daily rush-hour trek to the CBD. Just not worth it, IMO.

Don't forget the Boat Club at Scarborough not a bad pint in there, you need to join if you go regular but it's next to nothing for three years membership.
Also another good pub is the http://www.fullmoonhotel.com.au/hotel/about.fmh at Sandgate for drinks and meals.
Second the suggestion for Sandgate: REALLY close to the beach (the 'sand' in Sandgate isn't just coincidence!), convenient train to the CBD, and it has a lovely little town centre. It has a good 'feel' and the community is a little more close-knit than most northside suburbs. Also a lot of casual cycling opportunities both on and off-road.

http://www.belvederehotel.com.au/ great Steak and Crab food section as well and also a eat as much as you want buffet and then a front restaruant with different meals again plus the usual sports bar and outside seating deck overlooking the bay and Hornibrook bridge (and the building works temporarily)

Good dog walking as well at Brighton as it's only 6" to 1' deep when tide out on the sands.
