Male redbacks although just as venomous as the females cant harm you as they are tiny and the fangs are too small to penetrate the skin.....

I always get webs on me when I walk out my front gate.

I then spend the next 10 minutes walking down the street looking like a crazy lady, flailing my arms around, feeling through my hair, brushing myself off and franticly rubbing my face!! :D :D

Platypus have got spurs near their feet they are very poisonous.

It was in this thick web and when I sprayed it another fell out that we couldn't see. So no thanks if it was on a wall fair enough.

Rachel has just spoke to the estate agents, they say they're going to tell the lasndlord to sort it out.

you don,t need spray to get all those little and big critters.... when I was a kid my father and i use to shoot soldiers down with elastic bands.. (big chunky ones)... This has held me in good stead for the future.. elastic bands strategically placed around the house ready for any appearance be it arachnid, roach or fly.... I never miss the only downside is the mess..... practice makes perfect and it gives you far more pleasure trust me!!!!

Some one told me the other day that the only way they got action from their rental agent was to trap the insects in their case cockroaches causing the infestation and go to agents office and tip them on the agents desk...in the case of Redbacks though you may get arrested.

We never see any redbacks or whitetails where we live (in the outer eastern Melbourne suburbs) We get a lot of praying mantises & lizards in the garden which may have something to do with it

. We have a lot of daddy longlegs – I read somewhere that they eat the poisonous spiders, so are to be encouraged. Someone at work lives in Caroline Springs – he says his house is full of whitetails – they find them all over the house, in the kids beds etc etc.

The cat catches & eats any huntsman that are brave enough to come into the house.

What a nightmare :( when we first got the keys for our place we found alot of spiders 'not Red Backs' but we moaned to the Real estate and they got our landlord to get the house sprayed.....really good stuff had nothing since :)

Has anyone thought that that the high rate of skin cancer in Aus may have nothing to do with the sun but all the pestercides they spray around the houses... :scared: :scared: :scared: .

We only get huntsman so show them the door via capture tub. Have numerous little spiders hanging around outside non of them look vicious so leave them be.

Get bit my more mozzies than spiders so far... :( .

Just spoke to agents and they say the guy hasn't approved the quote, she says it's expensive so he's entitled to take his time and get a better quote the hose is classed as livable.

FFS there are redbacks everywhere my kids are locked in the house and so f**king what if it's expensive surely it's his duty as landlord to keep the
house sprayed.

You might want to mention to the agents that you will be suing if anyone gets bitten as they have been fully informed and are choosing to do nothing. Our agents were panicking about the owner leaving a swing set in case the kids fell off it and we sued them (yeah right). I don't think that our house has been sprayed as the owner went quiet when we asked when it was last done and mumbled something about getting it done but then we haven't got any nasties here so I am not too stressed about it. I would be seriously p****d though in your position, and I hope they get their fingers out and deal with it soon.
