Default Red back bite

Anyone been bitten by a redback before?

I was bitten on the back 2 days ago. Intense pain on the back and now my feet are aching/pins and needles and legs below the knee are sweating.

Nsw poisons hotline advise only to seek medical help if symptoms get worse.

How much worse can they get?

My commiserations, redback bites are bastards of things.

Intense pain and sweating are unfortunately common symptoms of redback bites, but as your pain is still intense after two days I think you should see your doctor. He/she can at least give you stronger pain relief than you can get over the counter, and may prescribe anti-histamines too if the bite is itchy.

As for how much worse it can get, if you have a fever (sign of infection) or are vomiting, you need to go to your local hospital's emergency dept so they can manage your symptoms. You could also consider this if you can't get a doctor's appointment tomorrow.

I'm not a medical professional, just an old-ish Aussie who's had a couple of bites, and witnessed more than a couple. Best of luck, hope you feel better soon.

Thank you spouse of scouse. You are utterly lovely for taking the time to try and help but sadly it’s just a very persistent spammer that can’t take a hint!

I’m going to close the thread rather than delete it though, in case it’s of help to others in the future.
