It's a very good precedent set in my opinion.

There may have been a bit of politics - but it's the right step and I like that Howard has endorsed it.

At last a politician who can make a decision.........eventually.
Iemma says no way for NSW, online poll on www.smh.com.au says "yes, we don't have a problem with it" by 80% pro. Seems old Mo is still in touch with the electorate then. When these State Governments can actually make a worthwhile, active, positive decision instead of constant ineffective waffle and tinkering, people may actually start to have confidence in their abilities to lead.

The staggering thing is that it's taken 6 years of drought before anybody even started thinking about it. For the last 3 or 4 years, industry should have been using recycled water, at least.

If only the media stopped referring to it as recycled sewerage people might be a little less aprehensive.

A much better solution than desalination plants.

Even our dear Mr Beattie now seems in favour. Faces a bit of an uphill battle with our local Bulletin though - they are still convinced that everyone will die if we even flush our toilets with the stuff. How I am still alive after 40 odd years of living in the UK I don't know

I don't understand the problem. The UK has had recycled water for decades and London water is recycled an average 7 times!

The water you drink today is the same water that a dinosaur once took a giant sized dump in - get over it!!!

About time too - I cant believe Beattie even considered going to a referendum - whats the point of voting for a politician that hasnt got the spine to make tough decisions !

We have recycled water here in Mawson Lakes. Not one of the Aussies here complain about it, they all thing it's a great idea.

That might be to do with the fact they can water their gardens between 8pm and 8am every day though
