receipts and petrol stations

im getting fed up having to ask for my petrol receipts at servos
the worst for it are the chinese
if I buy a 50c pencil at the newsagent they give me one so why do I have to ask when I spend 90 bucks on fuel.
I suspect their selling the ones they dont give out for gst back value

is this just queensland or all over?

I tend to go to the same Gull station for my diesel and they always ask if I want a receipt.

I always get asked - I like that they don't automatically print it if you don't want it, saves a small tree a week I imagine!

I doubt it's anything dodgy - but maybe it is!

I always ask for a receipt if I'm getting diesel in case the fuel is tainted and I need to claim.

Every time I fill up I'm always asked if I want a receipt. I always say no, but I can't ever remember not being asked.

No it isn't Queensland in general as I always get asked if I want a receipt.

Seems to just be the luck of the draw, I used to be asked at times and not at other times.

All of the supermarkets around here are now asking if you want a receipt, in that they are trying to save money (not the planet) by not printing one.

That's okay until you are suspected of shoplifting. No recepit, no easy proof.

We (at work) have a big problem with petrol stations in Queensland, especially once you are outside of Brisbane. Payment can't be claimed back without a receipt, but an increasing number of staff are reporting problems in getting receipts - either they aren't offered and people forget to ask, or they are simply refused. I've even seen people having to write Stat Decs to say the petrol station say they have no means of giving a receipt

Re: receipts and petrol stations

A 90 dollar receipt is worth 9 dollars cash for someone registered for gst
and with no name or reg number anyone can use it,
and a little bit more when its taken off your profits.

I always ask for a receipt and check that the amount printed on the receipt is the same as I was charged at the point of sale.

That's what a receipt is for, to prove your end of the contract to purchase and prove that you paid for the goods you obtained.

Do you want a receipt ?..............yer damn right I do !
