Default Ready to go!!

Hi everyone!
So new to this so please be nice have been thinking of making the move for over 2 year now, we live in the UK. Myself, husband and 7 year old son will be emigrating. We have been been deciding where abouts in Aus to go and think we have finally settled on Melbourne, Mornington area.

Just looking for some guidance as first steps please, did people apply for visas first? We own our own home but wouldn't want to advertise it until visa is through, I am a paediatric nurse and would be able to get the 189 visa.

Any advice appreciated
x

Not much you can do until you get your visa really. Go where you can get a job is the general rule of thumb and, if possible, don't sell your home, take a career break and see if you like it before cutting loose entirely

I would love to rent our home but we need the profit to go towards our savings for the move

Do you have any experience in how long roughly visa process takes?

Have you got a positive skill assessment and been invited to apply? If yes then a few months. If no then there's no definite answer. A few months to a year or more.

No not yet as I am waiting until August when I finish my second degree before starting the process. Thank you for that info though

If you are not even starting until August then I would say it's impossible to predict. Immigration rules change all the time, so who can say you're still going to be eligible for a visa 5 months from now. If you are eligible now then my advice is get going on it now.

If, you are still eligible in august, that is a big if as a lot can change in that time, then based on current timescales, I would allow a year.

Thank you for your advice we have decided to just get started with it rather than taking the risk. Booked Pearson test for 11th may then will be ready to submit for skills assessment with ANMAC! Exciting
