Default Re-training in Oz

Im moving to Brisbane in 12 weeks time with my OH (a sparky). I have a UK Degree in business and accountancy but have been a little fed up with my type of work. Want to do something a lot more inspiring and try to help others!
Early stages but I have started to investigate, look at TAFE College courses and so on for ideas. Just wondering if there are any expats out there who have re-trained to be a teacher or social worker once in Australia?

Would love to hear from you, thanks! Emma

If you want to teach, you may be able to do a one year Dip Ed at university. To teach in Oz you need to have done a 4 year uni course but I think they may count your BSc as long as the subject is relevant have a look on uni websites for further info as this will probably vary from state to state.

Generally in Oz you need a full under grad degree for primary, and a Dip.Ed. (one year) i.e. PGCE equivalent for high school.

If you are on top of mathematics, you could walk a job in, huge shortage of maths science teachers as many males have left the system or not entering....while most in system have studied humanities.
