re-newing my british passport in australia!

re-newing my british passport in australia!
Can any one help me. My passport runs out in May next year. I did not want to risk sending it off in the uk before we left incase it did not turn up in time for my flight to Australia. I am now here in Australia and was wondering if it is possible to have a new one issued here or wether i have to send it back to the uk for a renewal

I renewed my UK passport here in Oz via Canberra. Here's the link.
