I own a couple of racing greyhounds in UK and I was wondering how the sport of greyhound racing is around the Melbourne area since I'm moving there next month.
Where are the main tracks and how popular is it.
I would like to buy my own greyhound racer in Oz and I'm wondering whether they are more/less expensive than UK
Any info would be great.

Thanks

Joe

Get In touch with Greyhound Racing Victoria, They are located in Springvale, Lightwood road. There is a specialised vet practice for Greyhounds there too, Sandown Vet Clinic, I am a vet nurse and my first job was there about 3 years ago. The owner, Dr.Alister Smith is an excellent vet with Greyhounds and people travel interstate to bring their dogs to him. One of the main tracks is next door. It seems to be a pretty big sport in Victoria but the people above should be able to give you all the advice you need. Hope this helps.

Greyhounds are very popular in Melbourne. There are two racing tracks that I know of and I am sure they will be others. The main one is probably the Sandown Track: http://www.sandowngreyhounds.com.au the other is at Cranbourne http://www.greyhoundraces.com.au/gre...acks/?track=19
as for buying them take a look at this site, it should give you some idea of costs http://www.justgreyhounds.com/
