Hi JB

We used Crown...Shotts to Brisbane, then delivered by them approx.350 kms up the coast. 310 CU FT for £1632.00 (groupage) this included 6 wks free storage, and all fees at this end. Absolutely no problems with them whatever, excellent service all round, and you can track when your stuff is going to arrive online. Only 1 small thing broken.

All the best
BB

p.s. don't forget to haggle with them, they know people get various quotes and are prepared to lower their prices to get your business.

Shotts is just down the M8 from Kirky, about 15 miles or so. (we were 12 miles from Motherwell and 15 or so from Hamilton). We stayed there for 7 years prior to emigrating this September. I'm a Paisley Buddy! and hubby is from all over Glw.

Hi i've not been on for ages, just spotted your thread. I would recommend Crown 100% they were brilliant. they dealt with everything and nothing was broken at all. i have had heard bad reports about Pickfords and we have made new friends here who used pickfords and loads of stuff was broken.

The thing i like about Crown is they provide the service at both ends so they don't subcontract to anyone else and they pack and unpack for you, too easy. it was worth every penny we paid.

Another vote for Crown, price was a little more expensive but everything included. Door to door. Nothing broken and great service. We shipped from Clydebank to Melbourne back in June.

If you do a search on here you will find lots of info on shipping companies.

Best of luck.

Hi JB
No we had never been before either...just knew that we had had enough of bad weather, lack of sporting opportunities and needed more outdoor time to enjoy our social lives.
We love it here, so what we could earn more, the slower pace of life more than makes up for that.
And tomorow the owner's of our rental are putting in air cond. what more could a body ask for?
Seriously, before we put down roots, we would like to try out othert areas in Oz. and plan to holiday all over before doing so.
What fun!!

BB :D

Nearly all stuff coming by ship to W.A. will arrive in Fremantle. It`s the port of Perth basically (Fremantle is a suburb of Perth, and it happens to be where the Port is). If they had a decent port in Bunbury (they may do, I don`t know), then THAT would be closer. If they`ve sold you on that `closer to Bunbury` fact, then they are having a laugh, as it will come to Fremantle no matter which co. you choose to ship your stuff.

We arrived at the end of September this year...we're not actually in Brisbane, but 4 hours up the coast from it. When are you emigrating? We fancied Perth area also, but State nomination came through first for Queensland.

We used Crown when we moved. There service was great and our stuff arrived slightly earlier than we expected so all was good, and not a thing broken.(Newcastle, STAFFS - Perth) I think it was the middle of 3 quotes we had, but they seemed the most professional. Pickfords didn't even call us back to quote us after calling them twice. We used a different insurance company though, as I think we got it at only a couple of a percent. Let me know if you want their details and I'll dig the stuff out but I think a few expats have used them though and there's no doubt threads on here.

Hi there,
So pleased for you re visas. Hopefully we will hear early in new year. I am going to the day out on 28th. Great to meet up with others in same boat. We came back for family and thought everything would be fine. Nees to put ourselves and what we want first. Jim offered a job with company he worked with in 1997. Too good an opportunity to pass up. Hoepfully you are going on 28th aswell.
Maybe see you soon.

Okay Crown are saying 440 cubic feet and their quote was a lot more than expected.......... John Masons have quoted for same amount at just over £600 less...... neither including insurance, but Crown includes Quarantine - JM doesn't. Also have been on to Letton Percival who have quoted me insurance at 1.53% (£245)

Not sure if yours is inc packing and loading but we're paying £1495 for a sole use 20 ft container. We have to pack and load at our house then we'll pay extra to have it stored on the docks until we're ready for it to go. The extras we have to pay are marine insurance and customs, clearing and delivery the other end. Customs and clearing we're looking at around £350, delivery to aus address ????? (still getting quotes for that). We wanted a sole use container as Mark used to work for a haulage company and knows some of the probs of shared containers.
