Quinns Rock Nice Area?
As This Area Is Situated Near The Coast< Can Anyone Tell Us Why The Properties Seem To Be More Reasonably Priced Than Other Areas Near The Coast? Thanks

We love the Quinn's area and will be moving there soon.
It has still more than doubled in price in the last 7 or so years

There are 4 different areas to Quinns:
Old Quinns - Quaint old houses metres from the beach, gorgeous setting, high prices but people living there report hoon problems on Ocean Drive.
Quinns Beach - Newish estate - again with beachfront properties with prices ranging from about $380k - $$$$$$.
Osprey Estate - Established area of Quinns
Norfolk Estate - Established and cheaper area of Quinns with a few problem pockets.
I love old quinns, it is so different to the rest of the concrete northern suburbs, it has a bit of character. Maybe when I win the lotto..

One thing to bear in mind if you are considering Quinns is the schools, neither of the primary schools have great reputations, i know people who have moved the kids from both schools and a friend who is a releif teacher refuses to teach over year 3 in either as she is fed up being told to f off!

Oh my, thanks for that info, sounds as though we may need to re think! can you be in a particular area and use another area's school (ie do you need to be in a catchment area for schools, a bit like over in the UK?)
thank you for your help everyone, it does help when we are over here trying to sort out areas etc...

For primary school enrolement priority wil be given to children living within the catchment area, then siblings of children already within the school but who live outwith the area and finally children who don't live within the area. For most of the schools in the far northern suburbs you won't get a place without providing them with either a contract to purchase within the area or a lease for at least 6 months again within the area. Currently Butler, Mindarie and Kinross won't accept "out of zone" applications, i'm not sure about the other schools in the area.
also bear in mind that where ever you rent you are likely to end up buying either in that suburb or a neighbouring one so as you don't have to move the kids again, so its always advisable to check you can afford to buy within an easy commute of the school, remember too that in the 6 months you are renting house prices will rise by around 10% so factor that into where you can afford to buy.
Hope this helps

Quinns has hoon problems. On the plus side is the properties are cheaper there's a great surf lifesaving club (of which I'm a member ) and a great Volunteer Bush Fire brigade (I'm a member of the sister brigade, Wanneroo )
