Question re 138 bond, validation, centrelink
We validated our 138 visa in Nov 2005 and paid $5000 bond. This was to be repaid after 2 years (or 30 months?). The 2 years obviously are now up however we have never registered for Medicare - OH thinking that because we had 100% private medical insurance we wouldn't need it. However, I think it has bigger repercussions - can anyone clarify?
How does Centrelink know that you are in country? Is it through immigration at the airport when you first validate? We would like to give the $5000 to our sponsor as a thank you for their trust in us - but when do we get it? The sponsor has tried to get answers but noone seems to know. Thanks Galba |
Re: Question re 138 bond, validation, centrelink
Have you been living in Australia the whole time? Your immigration records and bank statements, rental/mortgage receipts etc would prove you've been there - send a letter (old fashioned I know but more likely to get a response!) to Centrelink and ask what the go is. Good luck!

The bond is due for repayment 2 years after the visa was validated.
