Question Question on Melbourne

I am moving to Melbourne next month. I have heard that some area in Melbourne has high crime rate and It is not advisable to go out after dark in those areas.
Can anyone give me the list of those area so that i can check when i go for renting the property.

I think our friend must be talking about a different Melbourne to the one in which we live.

This is what The Age has to say -

There are a lot of burglaries in Fitzroy and thankfully we've never been victims. I do often see people 'casing' the neighbourhood but to be honest I've never felt that my safety was in question in any suburb. Staying safe is easy! Don't walk around by yourself at night. Don't display your valuables for everyone to see. Lock your doors and windows. If you can get a dog!

There are a few places....but the main one I would avoid is Ferntree Gully!! I hear there are right dodgy types living out there....

Of course this advice is equally valid in Manchester, Madrid, Moscow and Many Other Cities Beginning with 'M'.
