Default Question about Australian Property Law... anyone?

Okay - tricky one this.

My mum has had her property renovated and now has a problem. She lives on the Gold Coast.

Her next door neighbour is a painter & decorator and since the renos have finished, he is insisting on parking his ute directly outside her house. His name & business are on the side of the ute & he says that Mums house looks so good it is great advertising for him.... the thing is..... he didn't do any of the decorating in the house!!!!!

Mum's driveway comes downwards from the street, and so the placement of house is about 1.5 mtrs lower than the height of the road. As a result, when this ute is parked there it is blocknig all the light from the house, and creating a "gorgeous view" from the front windows. He has taken to parking within a few inches of the end of the carport (which backs on to pavement).

She has been to the Police who didn't even come to look but just said that as he was parked on the street they couldn't do anything.....

Anybody got any ideas?????????

Claire

Does she have a car? If so when he moves his ute, park her own car in the spot. Otherwise if she is friendly with any other neighbours with a small car, ask them to park there!

Hopefully he will get the message.

Living on the Gold Caost can be a problem

Pity there is a sprinkler ban on at the moment

Gold Coast City Council had a blitz on residential street parking earlier this year. Had to do with vehicles parked on the street rather than on the property.

Try them.

why doesn't she contact the company who did the reno and ask them if they would like to place an advertising board outside her house for a few weeks so that the locals can see who did such a great job? Many companies would jump at the chance of free advertising!

Thats a good idea!!

I personally would bock his ute in with my own car at every opportunity that I got! When he came knocking asking me to move it, would say stuff like, 'oh, give me a couple of minutes, just bathing the kids etc,,.....'

Sure he'd soon get fed up of waiting!

Arrogant git!!

Here's a novel idea ....

Why doesn't she just try talking to him and asking him if he wouldn't mind parking somewhere else.

Unless he's an unreasonable w**ker of course. In which case follow advice above.

Can your mum do signwriting?

There is this great fertilizer called 88, fairly cheap in the 20kg bag.

88 really greens up a lawn if applied just before rain. Too much and it burns the lawn. Got my drift?

Now, this is where your mum comes in.........

Come to think of it, your mum may need a couple of bags to leave the correct message next door for quite some time.
