Default The Queensland Economy

April 22, 2009
The Queensland Treasurer, when asked by a reporter if Unemployment would hit 10%, said that he cannot rule it out.

However, that answer was translated in the newspaper headline to "Qld Unemployment could hit 10%"

He did say that the forecast was for 7% unemployment in Queensland in 2009/10, and that there is no chance that it will be lower.

Queenslands growth of just 0.3% in trend terms in the December 2008quarter, has placed great pressure on the government's forecast growth rate of 2.5% for 2008/09.
