Quantity Surveying opportunities
Hi all,
I'm heading out to Australia with my fiancee in October (in just under 7 weeks - counting the days!) and will be arriving in Brisbane as my sister lives there with her family.
I'm a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and will be looking for any QS opportunities in construction or mining. Obviously Brisbane would be our preferred location but we're willing to go anywhere in Australia (Perth, Melbourne etc).
I've tried contacting agencies and companies directly and have had little to no success - most saying i should just wait till i arrive, but i'd prefer to have a few options before i leave.
Anyone got any advice or know any people in construction or mining firms that they could put me in contact with??
Thanks.

Re: Quantity Surveying opportunities
Wait until you get here is pretty good advice and is what most of us have had to do. I don't have any contacts, but would recommend you wait until just a couple of weeks before you are due to fly out before contcting people.
If you are only a couple of weeks away, somebody might say "sure let's book something in", when you are seven weeks out they aren't going to want to book something in with you and will tell you to come back later. As you have found.

There is loads of QS work here. I got a job before I came, but I get regular calls and emails via linkedin from recruitment agents.

Are you a Contractor or Consultant QS?
