Default Qld Reccie

Just back from our Qld recce and loved it.
Better than i expected as you tend to focus on the negatives from what some folk talk about on this forum.
1 week on the gold coast & 2 in Cairns and really liked both areas, only problem is where to go north or south.

Glad you liked it, north is hotter and humid all year, south is more populated and has lovely winters.

Depends whether what you would like. I have seen a few people posting who live in Cairns and they seem to like it there.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Go wherever you can find work.

It might be important to note that Cairns would be a lot more hot and humid in the summer than it is right now.

Brisbane has a lot more going on. Brisbane is far easier to find a job. Cairns is quite small and can get boring after a while. depends what you want really, myself having lived in both opted for Brisbane, that said i'd have no problem living in Cairns as it's a great place to be.

At the end of the day it's up to you, you will know what suits you and the family. thats my twocenteth worth

The problem is where is the work ?
Some say you will have no problems picking work in either location and some say you wont, decorating that is.
I guess it's a case of bide your time and see how the economy swings

Nooooooooo!

As you say Smudger, it depends what you want, but there is probably more to do in and around Cairns than any city in Australia and in a far shorter distance to travel.

I don't know where people get the impression that Cairns is hot & humid all year! There is a very good reason why our tourist season is in winter & that is the superb weather up here in the winter months. (last few days excepting as it has peed down with rain)
