Default QLD - Driving test fee refund

My other half has recieved a letter of apology and a refund for her driving test fee from QT.

Apprently the new rules about no test for UK licence holders shoudl have been implemented 6 months ago and they have reviewed the records and foud that people have been incorrectly asked to sit the test and therefore they are refunding the fees .

Wonder if we can get a refund for the highway code book she bought so she could brush up on the rules before she sat the test.

No because you should buy it and read it regardless of taking a test or not. That way you (global) are less likely to get fined for doing something daft that you didn't know about.

How true that is. From postings on here, it seems that most ex-pats who land in a state that doesn't require you to take a test just jump in a car and drive. Then complain that 'they didn't know' when they get pulled

That's cool I'll tell my mates on the Goldie about that - coz they spent a lot $17 trying to pass the written test... we just bowled up handed over the paperwork, had a snap done, then got a QLD licence. Does is say when the rules changed?

Ta,
