, I'm sure Singapore Airlines give you 40KG for nothing.I'll give them a miss I think!

CRUMBS!!!!!!!!! That's like a whole other ticket!!!!!!!!!!!
I got a pretty good deal with Singapore Airlines - £904 plus tax for 2 one way flights. I am pretty happy with that. We are stopping off in Singapore so don't get the larger luggage limit (although I wouldn't get that anyway as I am flying on my Aussie passport).
Qantas were cheaper than Singapore but I just didn't fancy flying them. It was only a little bit more for Singapore (and since Dad is paying....I let him decide)

They must be pretty poor, the Aussie Army don't use them now - we're going Malaysian.

Qantas, Cathay and others now charge extra for a migrant fare, which gives excess baggage. Singapore and Emirates seem to be the ones still doing excess for free on the first trip on a PR visa.
Main reason that most airlines don't do the 40kgs now? Websites like this have made far more people aware that it exists, hence they have far more people taking large amounts of luggage and they can no longer afford to absorb the cost.

We came with Singapore Airlines so getting the 40kg but also the extra leg inches. Can't remember the exact measurements but I know BA and Quantas have less leg room than a few others, of which Singapore is one. You can get 60kg as a migrant if you fly via the USA but we thought that would just be too long
and 40kg was more than enough for our 2 cases and 2 rucksacks (only us two, no kids).
Have a good flight!

We flew Singapore and as an iimmigrant I got the 40kg but my hub and children got 30 kg each as 'Returning Migrants'.

Just flew Malaysian - they positively don't do the migrants allowance. However on the first leg, despite having 78Kg (3 of us flying) they just waved us through. Got charged for an extra 7Kg (£60) on the second leg.

..I hate Quantas with a vengeance! Try someone else...Singapore, KL and others will do it for nothing if you are emigrating...

What a ripoff. We will definately try someone other than Qantus when the times comes.
