Qantas Freq Flyer Scheme
I have been checking out the details of this FF scheme. If you apply to join from with Aus or NZ there is a $83 joining fee, but free if joining from elsewhere.
Does anyone know if this fee is payable if you join from overseas and then move to Oz?
Maybe I'm being a bit mean, but hey if I can join for free then all the better!

As far as I know, a fee is not payable if you join overseas and then move. You've
nothing to lose by joining while resident overseas, anyhow. Jeremy

So far as I recall, if you join Qantas' FF program in the UK (for free) you're not given credit for any economy class flights from the UK to Australia. However, you do receive credit for a flight from the UK if you join as from an address in Australia and pay the initial fee (and I speak from personal experience here).
Alternatively consider joining another Qantas partner airline's FF program.
This site's worth a look if you're interested in investigating the subject more fully:

Best regards.

Re: Qantas Freq Flyer Scheme
You only get points if the flight is booked in Oz (that's the excuse they gave me for
the 20000km they never gave me!)
