They are crap. BA with a Kangaroo on the tail.

Because they're proudly Australian owned (well, sort of) and proudly Australian mis-managed.

I guess when maintainance work goes to the cheapest bidder then the quality of work will eventually suffer.
Pay peanuts you get monkeys, but as long as the share holders are happy with their returns then I guess all is OK - NOT

Qantas was never well respected for service. It is arguably as bad as BA! They do however, cling to the claim of never having lost a plane by defining it as "total hull failure". They did have a crash once in Honkers that was so bad it should have been written off but they patched it up to preserve the claim - it is still flying I believe.

I was due on every one of the ten percent of flights cancelled between Sydney and Brisbane! Friday nights travelling back to Sydney are a nightmare. I should be home at least by nine o'clock but most times it is after ten and easily 11 with midnight a couple of times!.
I have agreed to stay working here in Brisbane for another couple of months but negotiated an early exit on Fridays now for a 3.15 flight. I am hoping to make it back for 7.00
at least.
I think the excuses in the airport are the worst, I have been told so many lies (birds hitting plane, engines, missing air conditioner parts!) the staff confuse themselves but basically it feels like they treat the flights like buses and wait till enough people show up to fill the plane.
To be honest I am not swopping off qantarse as the others are much of a muchness and have my bug bears with them. Virgin is pay to breath on the flight and increasing this tariff by charging for luggage, you are luck on Jetstar if you are allowed luggage - apart from if you are Princess Mary.
As a very tired Platinum FF I like the Business lounges and with the delays it is a relief. Nice service too on upgraded internationals.

Bangkok....it's never actually been proven that it should've been a write off. That's a pretty big bill they would've had to talk their insurance company into paying.

As someone on another thread said, QF engineers are in dispute and can often manufacture delays at will by sticking to the letter of the manuals.

I just found out I am going to Brazil with work next month. Guess who I will be flying with.

A friend of mine works for Qantas and they did not claim insurance but paid for the repair job themselves. That way they could still claim to be the only airline with a 100% record of no crashes.

The gist of it was right though.
