What are show holidays ?

Country fairs basically, a day off if your in a govvy job or a teacher etc, other than that the employer probably ignores it.

Errr, isn't a public holiday like a ... public holiday?

I don't know anyone that works on a showday, other than providing cover (then they get a day in leui) ...
