Public apology to Cresta57!
I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, All the Speckled Hens in Brissie are currently in a box in my kitchen!
You can put an order in though - when a box comes in they'll keep it aside for you, thats what I did....and thats why the shelves are bare
Hope you found some other of a suitable standard!!!

You can buy Old Speckled Hen at heaps of places around Brisbane, why doesn't he buy it somewhere else?

People suggested lots of places in Sydney and Melbourne, but no-one told him or me of a good beer source in Brissie before (except Dagboys fridge!)
Think he is now brewing some himself, guess he was just down here having a look I'm not allowed to brew my own, the Bloke says we haven't enough space.

Plus plenty of other threads, in fact in the last one it was you who asked where you could get it!
Our local Grape sells OSH, Greene King Abbot Ale, Adnam's Broadside, something from Fullers, Old Fart, Old Peculier, Hobgoblin and a couple that DagBoy had not heard of (but is prepared to test sometime) just to name a few. There are about a dozen all up, plus some european stuff like Leffe.
There is also a large Liquor store down at Cleveland which has a range of british beers.

i was in morrisons the other night, and chuckled to myself when i saw a shelf full of old speckled hen...!! the supermarket shelves are now heaving with alcohol for the christmas period.......do aus supermarkets tend to overdo the whole christmas shelf stocking like the uk? (i know they dont sell alcohol) - i was at meadowhall the other night and it was bursting at the seems with people carrying bags and bags of stuff...........commercialism has gone mad!!!!!!!!!!!! seems we have forgotten the whole meaning of it all.

Re: Public apology to Cresta57!
It was only meant to be a jokey thread cos Cresta accused me of drinking all the beer. Wish I'd never started it now, I'm sure you can get all sorts of beer everywhere and I expect Cresta knows that. No need to lecture me.

Don't worry Polly there's plenty of other choices in the chiller there . Like a kid in a sweet shop again.
Just read the links Mrs D posted re alternative sources for real ale and I've got to point out that the bottles of OSH I got from the place in Lutwych? were all 500ml bottles straight from U.K I'm sure of that as I've got one in front of me as I type.
Speckled Hen is just one of many favs, I've just stocked up on Double Diamond, Boddingtons, Ruddles and Adnams Mmmmmm.
No I'm not an Alky the last time we went I spent 200 bucks that was nearly 3 months ago. I've just cracked the last bottle of Hen
