I brought mine out with me and haven't had any compatibility problems at all. But I guess it comes down to the type of projector you are looking at getting.

Home theatre is big business here so the prices may well be competitive. Guess the bonus of buying in Australia is that if you have any problems you can get them sorted locally, unless the UK stuff has an international warranty.

One thing worth bearing in mind is that if you buy in the UK 12 months before leaving you could get charged for GST on arrival in Australia.

GST is like VAT in UK. Its a tax. They reckon if you show you've owned something for 12mths then it wont attract the GST. Other threads about laptops being brought in show that they're not that hot on it and its meant to stop people bringing goods in to sell I believe.
Might be a10% or 15% cant' recall.

I too was looking at Multimedia, having just spent 4K£ on a gorgeous plasma screen which I dont want to ship because I dont reckon it'll survive (gutted) I was looking on ebay for similar plasma's in Aus.

If you want to get a good idea of projector prices you can do worse than try Ebay here versus Ebay.com.au which will give you some idea. For example - Panasonic 42" plasma over here on ebay is about 1700£ but its £2000 in Aus.
I know plasma's are awkward to ship because they have to stay upright, they dont like being banged around etc, so Im gonna flog mine here and buy new in Aus.

Bizarre - but how can they tell how long you've owned it? Are they gonna stop me at customs and demand to see reciepts? Yes, I know e-bay is great. I've been looking for Projectors on e-bay Germany as they are much cheaper there. I noticed Au prices were pretty steep for projectors.
