Profit on self build?
Hi y'all
Here in the UK it's reckoned that (if you can get a plot) you can make a 20 - 30% "profit" by building your own house. Just wondering if it's the same in Oz. (I know masses of people do "self-builds", just wondering about the economics of it) I also seem to recall someone mentioned that you're only allowed to build and sell fairly infrequently - anyone have the low-down on that?

Re: Profit on self build?
For most of the info you need to contact the MBA - Master Builders Association here in WA. You are only allowed to do one self build every 6 years. http://www.mbawa.com/
If you go to their site I'm sure you'll find lots of lovely forms and insurance info
In terms of profit, not sure, but I would estimate your costs could be 30% less than going through a builder.
Best of luck.
