Hi, I think we will be sending our little ones to state schooling for primary. My questions are; do you have a choice on which state school your child attends or is it based on catchment and if not, do you have to register your interest asap as with private schools? Also, can anyone tell me where I can see some league tables or similar? I can't seem to find what I want.
Hope someone can help.

Alternatively approach the local mums in Mc chucks and ask their opinion about the school you are interested in.
Some schools have strict catchment areas and others don't.

In 2003, about 32% of all School Children in Australia went to Private/Independent schools.
And the figure is getting higher. I read somewhere that it is about 40% for secondary schools.
