Default Private health insurance

Who has used which companies for private health insurance in Oz?
I will need at least basic insurance for a retirement visa, but hopefully a PR will come through fairly soon afterwards so it might be an idea to use a company which will convert the basic into a suitable policy for permanent residence later on.
Regards

Ther are lots of australia medical insurance companies BUT only about four who cover 410 reitrement visa holders

Of these investigations for us showed that Australian Unity were the best and most economic cover. You get the basic and then you CAN add if you wantto por keep the money in a sep[arate abnk account for when and if it is needed.

There are others Medibank and the Bupa type are others. If you are intrested in the australia Unity one contact Alan Collet at Go-Matilda as he sorts it out for you and is very very helpful.
He can dot the eyes and cross the tees to explain their odd phrasology/

Ta!

What do you mean about keeping "the money" in another a/c?

Alan has sent me the AU brochure. I am still waiting for the 410 to come through tho' so until then I'm sitting on it. We also have the new Parent visa application in, and hopefully that will come up and we will then need the "full" insurance.

For a 410 visa holder just pay the basic required and save the money NOT used on the extras and keep it as savings in another account.
