Hi

Yes there are preschools. They are called "Kindergartens" or "Child Care Centres".

Get a book called the Melways. It's a great map book (essential for finding your way around) and has a section for all the Child Care Centres and Kindergartens in it. It tells you where they are and their tel nos.

Be warned though...the Herald was reporting of the huge waiting lists for Victoria to get in.

CHild minders are called Family Day Care and essentially they are provided through the local councils (very similar to UK). If you approach your local council they would give you details.

Cheers

Steve
