We are hopefully emigrating to Brisbane next year some time, and I have been reading up on schools and have read that it 2008 they are changing the age limit of year 1. Can someone please clarify to me when my son, who will turn 6 in September 2008, will start school. Will he be 6 or 7 because the website that I was reading says that if the child turns 6 after June 2008 he will not start Year 1 (or whatever it will be called then) until the year after.

Hi, the school website will explain better than me but as I understand for children born after 1 January 2002 but before 30 June 2002 they will start prep (which will be 5 full days) in January 2007, and year 1 in 2008. The children born between 1 July 2002 - 30 June 2003 will start thier Prep year in January 2008.

My little boy has was born October 2001 so has just got into the last preschool year, will start pre school in January 2006, this is part time (5 day fortnight), he will then start full time year 1 in January 2007.
